YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT!
This is the "I still want to smack you card"--might be how some of us feel in the voting lines. LOL
I am sure that NOBODY is going to forget to vote this year, considering the constant media coverage and the unique challenges are country is facing, but please CHOOSE to vote. What you personally stand for and believe in is important and does matter. It's worth the lines and effort. If you live in Wisconsin (like yours truly), you can vote early at the City Council Building downtown. Otherwise, EVERYONE can google "Voting Polls" along with your zip code and find out where you need to go. Doug and I will be at the polls bright and early on Nov. 4th!
And, if you still haven't quite made up your mind, my friend Meredith sent this fact check site a couple weeks ago (Thanks, Mere!). I know all the ads can be confusing, so it helps quite a bit: http://www.factcheck.org/.

Happy 4th Birthday to our lovely niece, Alyse Nicole!! :)
What a great PARTY!!! Although Doug was at school both Saturday and Sunday (yes, again...we got home to Wisconsin at 11 p.m. on Sunday night), Doug is SUCH a trooper and just amazing. Between milestones at work and Kellogg, Doug hasn't had ONE night off in weeks....literally....very late nights working....and he has NEVER complained or had a bad attitude (not once). I am so proud of you, Hubby! :)
Doug did make it for the last part our niece, Alyse Nicole's, birthday party. Happy Birthday again, Princess Alyse!!! We just love her and all my nieces & nephews to PIECES!! My Mom did an amazing job (as usual!) throwing a WONDERFUL birthday party, which was themed "A Princess Party!" (What else for a 4 year-old little girl!) Hope you enjoy the pictures- :)

Happy Birthday Alyse!!!! We love you!

CONGRATS LADY MOXIE (BOUTIQUE)!
Warm Congratulations to my friend and local boutique owner, Elizabeth (love your St. John suit in the picture above, Elizabeth!), of Lady Moxie. She was on the cover of two magazines this month, one national and one local.
When I moved to Madison, I was so happy to find Lady Moxie. They carry designer new and consignment clothing, shoes and handbags. Elizabeth is extremely selective and has connections all over the United States. She also carries some exclusive handmade ecelctic and elegant gowns (which inspire me to KEEP SEWING). Yesterday after work I stopped by just to play "dress up"--very beautiful, fun, and DIFFERENT pieces. :) Besides Lady Moxie, Elizabeth just opened Baby Moxie in a joining space.....
I just love Lady Moxie and Elizabeth. If you live in Madion, stop in and see for yourself!!! She's located on the West Side, off Odana Rd. :) Enjoy!!! Congrats again, Elizabeth!!!!
Cheers! Kate

Missing my GIRLFRIENDS :)
It's been a extra busy few weeks and I am just missing my Girlfriends, only some of which are pictured below. My friend, Kelly (cute red head in bottom picture) sent this writing titled "Girls In My Circle" (below) to a bunch of us ladies last week....I am not usually a fan of this kind of thing, but I thought what Kelly sent was well written and very beautiful (Thanks Kel!!!).
Hope you enjoy it too!

GWC Ladies (Tracy, Mere, Marisa, Marisa (Posh) and Kelly)GIRLS IN MY CIRCLEWhen I was little, I used tobelieve in the concept of one best friend. And then I started to become awoman. And then I found out that if youallow your heart to open up, you willbe shown the best in manyfriends. One friend is needed whenyou're going through things with yourpartner.Another friend is needed whenyou're going through things with yourparents.Another will sit beside you inthe bleachers as you delight in yourchildren and their activities.Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.One friend will say,'Let's cry together,' another, 'Let'sfight together,' another,'Let's walk away together.'One friend will meet yourspiritual need, another your shoe fetish, another your love for movies, another will be with you in your seasonof confusion , another will beyour clarifier, another the wind beneathyour wings. But whatever their assignment inyour life, on whatever the occasion,on whatever the day, or whereveryou need them to meet you with theirgym shoes on and hair pulledback, or to hold you back from making acomplete fool ofyourself. Those are your best friends. It may all be wrapped up in onewoman, but for many, it's wrapped upin several.....one from 6thgrade, one from high school, some from thecollege years, a couple from oldjobs. On some days your mother. On somedays your neighbor. On others, yoursisters, cousins. And on somedays, your daughters. So whether they've been yourfriend for 20 minutes or 20 years, ANDONLY IF YOU'D LIKE TO, passthis on to the women who have been placedin your life to make adifference,And don't forget to send itback to the one who gave it to you, if theyhave made a difference in your life. Thanks for being part of my life.
The girl's got taste....what can I say? :)

Grandma Smith Michigan Visit! :)
Doug and I just returned from Walloon Lake, Michigan to see Doug's Grandma! We love her so much and had a BLAST. Thanks so much again, Grandma! It's late and I'm a little tired, so...below are a few pictures. I may do another blog post tomorrow with more pictures and a little more writing about our visit, but...for now, I am off to get some sleep! We had a very long drive today through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and back to Madison (8 hours), went to the gym, ate a late dinner....and headed back to work tomorrow morning. SO, we are going to bed! Have a great day! ~Kate
Grandma & I laying on her bed... watching "The Bucket List" :) Fun times...
Grandma, Doug & I at the "Water Street Cafe" for brunch in Boyne City.
Before going out on the boat with Grandma's friends, Bill & Jane (awesome people, by the way). They took us around all of Walloon Lake .................so very beautiful.
I snapped this picture of Doug and his Grandma as we were headed back on the boat after visiting Bill & Jane's GORGEOUS home. I LOVE this picture of the two of them....a great memory.
Drinking coffee and relaxing on Grandma's porch in the morning....Yep, folks, this is her AMAZING AMAZING view E-V-E-R-Y-D-A-Y!!! It's breathtaking....the lake, the trees, the wildlife...all of it.
